The media mogal who made the right CHOICE

Known as the richest self made black woman in media. Yvonne is a very busy lady, whos achievements so far have been to chair the London Central Learning and Skills Council, the Ethnic Minority Business Links for London and the Small business Council. She also runs the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners.

Yvonne was born in Guyana in 1957 and came to the UK as a young girl with her parents. Her dreams were to become a nurse. she went to college to take a pre-nursing course but finished it prematurely at 17 and a half, six months before she was old enough to actually get into nursing. At the age of 18 she gave birth to her daughter and became a single mother.But this did not deter her from her aspirations.Her first step to get into the business world was while she was in her interim period, she began working at Nat West Bank. After a long stint with the bank Yvonne took a big gamble with her life by investing a large sum of money in the Choice Fm radio station. Alot of people and close friends of Yvonne didn't think this venture was such a good idea and thought she needed to spend more time with her six year old daughter.But the investment paid off and Yvonne became one of the leading spokespeople within the company.

Yvonne is now the PR Guru and Marketing Director for Choice FM and has been awarded a CBE in the Queens Birthday Honours List.
