He co-founded the Soul II Soul sound system in 1982 along with school

the background which built the Soul II Soul hits came from Jazzie's
experience as a DJ -in street parties, community centres, youth clubs
and on illegal radio stations.
The
double Grammy Award winner has been proved to be the undeniable genius
of two generations of soul and dance music producers & artists,
leaving his distinctive Soul II Soul essence within whole traunches
of musical production and sounds. He has been involved in over 30
million album sales, and 100 million singles. He has also worked with
some of the most exciting artists of our time, on some of the greatest
tracks ever.
From
creating the Soul II Soul sound system, to creating the Soul II Soul
sound, Jazzie decided to create the Soul II Soul recording group,
and a deal with Virgin was signed. This went on to become the club
and chart success story of the late 80's, achieving world-wide acclaim
with albums 'Club Classics' vols I & II , and hits including 'Keep
On Movin', 'Back to Life' and 'Get A Life'. There have been three
further albums and, and eight further singles the most recent being
'I Care (Soul II Soul)' which reached number 11 in the UK Charts at
the begining of 1996.
During this period Jazzie has widened his horizons somewhat, he has
had success as a musical director at the South Bank , as a presenter
of a weekly radio show, and produced some TV. He has a recording studio,
owns a record label, and has started a fashion line. He has also won
an award from The National Association for the Advancement of Coloured
People ( an American civil rights organisation) for being an outstanding
role model.
Jazzie
B now lives in central London with his partner Efua, and has two children.
Even now he is most probably hard at work stretching his boundaries.
