Footballer
Ian Wright will always be remembered for his
astonishing goalscoring feats for Crystal Palace and Arsenal. Born On
the 3rd of November 1963, in Woolwich, London of Jamaican parentage.
He excelled in Sports but it was not until he reached his early twenties
that he was able to make his mark as a professional footballer.
Crystal Palace was his first club where he had two successful years
and
helped guide them to an FA cup final appearance. His goalscoring exploits
with Crystal Palace caught the attention of Arsenal and this enhanced
his
goalscoring reputation.
In his first season he scored 24 league goals, establishing himself
as a
fan's favourite. Ian would later beat Cliff Bastin all time record of
178
league goals for Arsenal. Since Arsenal lan has had short spells at
Celtic,
Burnley and he also made 31 appearances for England.
Ian Wright is now an established television presenter and a spokesperson
for
charitable causes.

1994/95 season - scored in 10 successive appearances beating David Jack's
63-yr old club record. (see it on that season's fixture list)
On Saturday 13th September 1997 Wright scored a hat-trick against Bolton
at Highbury, the first goal of which put Wright equal with Cliff Bastin
at the top of the all-time Arsenal goal-scorers list on 178. Ian is
Arsenal's leading goal-scorer of all time.
