HENRY BONSU
Journalist
A
graduate of Magdalene College, Oxford, Henry, aged 32, has been a journalist
since 1990. During a six year stint at the BBC, he worked on the Today
programme, the World at One, Black Britain, Public Eye, and Breakfast
News. He has written for national and regional newspapers including
the Times, the Daily Express, Manchester Evening News and London Evening
Standard, as well as leading black publications like the Voice, New
Nation, and Pride magazine.
Twice
winner of an Ethnic Multicultural Media Award for radio, for two years
Henry presented "Upfront" on BBC GLR 94.9. He now presents
the "Henry Bonsu show", a nightly news, talk and phone-in
show on BBC London Live, interviewing politicians, celebrities, and
decision-makers including Paul Boateng, Steve Norris, Margaret Hodge,
Trevor Phillips, Frank Dobson, Patti Boulaye, Angie Le Mar, and Luther
Blisset.
Henry
is also a regular guest on other radio and television discussion programmes
like Radio 5 Live's Late Night Live with Brian Hayes, and BBC2's Esther
and Lowri. He has been a Mental Health Act Manager at the Maudsley Hospital
since 1998, and his recent half hour television report on the mental
health problems of Black British men won two media awards.
