ANGIE
LE MAR
Comedian
This
Lady of Comedy is no lightweight. She attracts thousands to her shows
on the live comedy circuit and it is no surprise that she is not only
popular to her loyal female and male fans in the UK but attracts strong
support from her followers in the USA. Ten years at the top has seen
the talented Angie Le Mar headline gigs at the Comedy Store in both
LA and New York and was the first British comedian to storm Harlem's
Apollo Theatre.
In 1994, Angie wrote, directed and starred
in the groundbreaking sketch show "Funny Black Women on the Edge"
which was one of the major hits of the Edinburgh Festival. She played
to sell out audiences and rave reviews, which were repeated in a highly
successful national tour and several seasons at the Theatre Royal Stratford
East. Nevertheless, her brilliancy reached greater heights when she
directed the successful "Waiting to Inhale", male take on
the hit Whitney Houston movie. In addition to her comedy work, Angie
recently displayed her
dramatic acting abilities in Yvonne Brewster's acclaimed Talawa Theatre
production of "Flying West".
I
was first introduced to the talents of Angie Le Mar when she appeared
on the successful long running comedy series of the early nineties,
The Real Mccoy. Later she would appear on Channel 4's top comedy show
Get Up, Stand Up, like The Real Mccoy this was a scetch show fused with
real stand up comedy infront of an audience. Infact there is no stopping
Angie, her TV credits include Birds of a Feather, Black Britain and
Channel 4's
Late Licence. By popular demand, her late night Sunday radio show for
GLR radio
and she is currently hosting a Friday night show on Choice FM.
Look
out for Angie in the future as I am sure she is working on a number
of exciting projects.
