USEFUL INFORMATION

Ancient Times

It has been well documented that Africans were the first makers of jewellery in Egypt and Ethiopia from ancient times, no later than 6000 BC. They were the first ship builders. The black Ethiopians, the nubians and the Egyptions, developed the art of ship building over thousands of years. They produced funeral barges and war ships that were able to carry over 250 soldiers.

Archaeologists have found in the tombs throughout Africa, thousands of examples of highly skilled and polished jewellery for health and personal adornments. Examples of fine gold, silver and copper bracelets and necklaces, gold earrings, crowns, headwear, leather belts, belt buckles and girdles of considerable sophistication.

                                                The African Moors
In 711 AD an Afrikan people called the moors, under their leader Grebal Tarik, crossed the straits called the Pillars of Hercules and landed on the rock Island of Gibraltar ( named in his honour ). Here they built a mighty fortress. From this base they entered Europe and made themselves masters of Spain. BY 1000 AD a black Moorish Islamic culture had civilized Spain and flourished in the fertile soils of Andalusia in Southern Spain.

They then crossed the Pyrenees Mountains and conquered southern France and gave one of the finest cultural civilizations Europe has ever had.

They brought books with libraries and introduced the zero number. They were also masters of astronomy, mathematics, algebra, medicine and chemistry.
